Dear Patient
Are you interested in taking part in a research study looking at future obesity treatment?
We are writing to tell you about a research study that is taking place here at the Research Unit – Richford Gate Primary Care Centre, and to provide you with some information to help you think about whether you would like to take part. The research team here is led by Professor David Wingfield and they are looking for people who might be willing to take part in a clinical research study called RENEW 2. This study is funded and sponsored by Novo Nordisk.
The study will involve about 330 participants from around the world. It is expected that about 25 of these participants will be from the UK. The study is estimated to last approximately one and a half years. You would be expected to visit this study site 14 times and have 7 phone calls with the doctor or staff. Please see the Participant Leaflet below for further information about what it means to take part in RENEW 2.
The study team identify patients, such as yourself, who may be suitable to take part and to provide them with information about the study. We would like to stress that participation in research studies is entirely voluntary. If you prefer not to take part, you do not have to provide a reason. Your current and future treatment will not be affected if you decide not to take part.
If, after having read the study leaflet, you would like to find out more about taking part in the study then please contact the study team, by telephone or email at:

nhsnwl.renew2@nhs.net
Alternatively, please complete and return the Study Response Form below if you would like more information and a member of the study team will be happy to contact you.
You are under no obligation to take part in this research and your current care will not be affected if you decide you do not wish to take part.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Yours sincerely,
Professor David Wingfield
